TESTIMONIES
I met Gebben Miles in late 2006 at the Tucson Trap and Skeet range. At the time I had been shooting skeet for two years and had limited success in sporting clays. I never took the sport as seriously as skeet, but after my first lesson with Gebben [on the sporting clays course] I knew I had chosen the right path. In my first year under his tutelage I went from C class to Master Class while traveling with him to shoots in Kentucky and Washington State. Never before in my life, in any sport, have I so rapidly ascended the echelons of competition. He taught me the fundamentals of shotgun shooting as well as a balanced three way mental game: attaining harmony between conscious, sub-conscious, and one’s self-image. As a member of Targetline Shooting School and National Champion, he is a stand-out representative. Gebben has the potential to act as an ambassador, encouraging people from all walks of life to take part and enjoy our game.

In 1988, I fractured my back in a horse riding accident. The Cat scan showed bone piercing my spinal cord and by what the pictures revealed, I shouldn’t have been able to walk. The attending physician asked me if I was a religious person, because nobody could explain what happened other than some higher power intervention. Jesus Christ healed me and every time I am able to walk much less to compete, it is a testimony of His power, grace and mercy. Gebben Miles has taught me how to integrate my faith into my shooting. I could have never won a National title(fitasc), made Team USA( fitasc) and 1st Team all American without Gebben’s coaching, mental training and support. I have been greatly blessed having Gebben as my coach, mentor and friend.

“Gebben coaches with the same personal commitment seen in his competitive pursuits. His genuine care for improving his student’s game was quickly evident.
That said, as a seasoned competitor, well versed, if not firmly rooted in one method for most target presentations, I had questions. And, as a true believer in the value of instruction, I frequently shoot with an outstanding coach in So Cal. These all raised concerns – is there something “new” to learn, will the lesson be additive or ….
I need not have been concerned. Gebben started with my existing game, how I think about the targets, my style and competitive struggles. He introduced his approach to various target presentations in a manner that could be easily assimilated. Every question was carefully analyzed and answered.
Field application confirmed the merits of the methodology. Throughout the session, Gebben freely shared his sporting clays journey. As enjoyable as the discussion and life experience shared, it provided additional lessons.
As the session ended it was clear that there were not only more tools now in my toolkit, but there was also the ability to use those tools effectively. A trip to Tucson will present anyone with the finest targets available and Gebben Miles who will enable you put them in the ‘kill’ column with confidence.”

Over the summer of 2009, I observed that the sporting clays scores of my 14 year old son Stephen were consistent, but had leveled off in the high 60’s-low 70’s range. I recognized this as a need for better coaching than I could provide so I contacted Gebben Miles to see if he would be willing to accept the task of coaching my 14 year old. During the course of our first phone conversation, I learned that Gebben was a Christian who shoots and coaches sporting clays which was very important since we knew that Stephen’s coach would invariably become a role model who would affect our son’s behavior. We arranged for Stephen to shoot with Gebben’s sporting clays squad on October 10, 2009 so Gebben could become acquainted with Stephen and observe his shooting skills.
The first event was a 100 target course and Stephen, true to form, shot a 73 while getting to know Gebben and the rest of the squad. They then broke for lunch and Gebben discussed Stephen’s game with him and gave him some pointers on his pre shot routine. Stephen then rejoined Gebben and his squad for the 50 target second event of the day. Stephen won the Open Class HOA in that 50 target event.
One might say, ”that is youthful variation”, but on October 17, Stephen shot an 87 in the 100 target main event of the next registered shoot—17 birds higher than any previous score. Stephen continued to work with Gebben, and after three lessons and three months time, Stephen progressed from C class to A class through regular class wins at registered events. Stephen won his first 100 target Open Class HOA on January 23, 2010.
Stephen’s shooting progress under Gebben’s coaching began as suddenly as turning on a light switch, and for him to improve his game by 20+ targets in just three months is truly beyond all my expectations. And true to our intuition, Gebben is a terrific role model and new friend for our son.
Respectfully, Fred Fuller
